Foo Fighters start work on next album

The Foo Fighters are getting back to work a little sooner than even some of the band members anticipated.  Guitarist Chris Shiflett tells "Rolling Stone" the group started rehearsing for the follow-up to 2011's Wasting Light a few weeks ago.

While Shiflett says he "knew [they] weren't done" when frontman Dave Grohl announced a Foo Fighters hiatus last fall, he thought the break might be a little longer.  Still, Shiflett says it's "good getting back to work."  He adds that the current plan is to start actually recording the new Foo Fighters album at the beginning of next year.

During what he calls the Foo Fighters' "very short hiatus," Shiflett spent some time working with his country side-project, Chris Shiflett and the Dead Peasants.  But Shiflett doesn't expect his country detour to show up on the new Foo Fighters album, although he jokes that he might try to slip some banjo in there "when no one's looking."
